Heavy rains have led to the severe destruction of many roads and infrastructure in the north of Kwa-Zulu Natal and its terrains, as several parts of the province were struck by floods which led to not only damage to property but a large number of fatalities.
As of Friday, 14 April 2022, 341 deaths have been reported as announced by KZN Premier Zikalala.
Zikala confirmed that More than 40 000 people have been affected, 55 injured, 248 schools damaged and an overall estimate of billions of rands in damage, the premier said during his visit to the Shakaville community in KwaDukuza, who lost their homes during the floods.
Zikalala assured them that government assistance and support will be offered to the affected families.
