Breaking News: The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has this morning raided the National Lotteries Commission Kimberly office after obtaining a search and seizure warrant from the magistrates court in the district of Kimberly.
The raid comes after the investigating unit received a tip-off from a whistle blower, alleging that there is corrupt activity taking place at the NLC Kimberly office through the fraudulent administration of grant funding processes.
The SIU through their social media communications platforms said; the warrant, which was obtained on 8 March 2022, authorises the SIU to search and seize evidence from the NLC-Kimberly office relating to the funding of Non-Profit Organisations (NPO) to uplift communities in the Province.
SIU spokesperson, Kaizer Kganyago says the SIU was reliably informed by whistleblowers that NLC officials had allegedly enlisted services of runners, who were tasked with the responsibility of scouting NPOs in the Province and encourage them to apply for NLC funding.
Immediately after the funding was approved and released to NPOs, it is alleged that the runners together with NLC officials would share approximately thirty percent of the funding. – SIU
