Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says Gauteng police have assembled a team to investigate the fatal shooting of 50-year-old female deputy principal from Phomolong Secondary school.
Thembisile Ngandane was shot and killed execution-style on the school’s driveway on Friday.
Lesufi assured the emotional leaners and teachers during his visit to the school on Monday, that the people responsible for the shooting will be found.
“We want to send a strong message to them as well. They can run, they can hide, but we will find them. Police in Gauteng have since activated a 72-hour plan to locate the perpetrators. I am glad the police have assured us that they have assigned a provincial team for the next 72 hours to track these perpetrators,” said Lesufi.
Lesufi pleaded to the members of the community not to speculate on the motive of the killing.
“You might be aware that when this incident took place on Friday, those that are heartless and don’t understand this sector started to circulate the wrong information. And that deepened the hurt and made things difficult on all of us. It is only the killer that knows the motive and if you are not a killer and you speculate it means that you are part of those who killed our deputy principal. I want to urge those that are speculating, to stop it,” he added.
The motive for the killing is still not known.
