Residents at Bloemhof, North West have started evacuating on concerns of flooding following the heavy rains. Some of the residents have already moved to a local hall.
Media reports state that 62 households in the area have been badly damaged while 702 households in the entire province have been damaged along with 17 municipalities.
The province has urged residents to evacuate, as heavy rainfall is expected to continue.
Guesthouse owner Sias Meyers, said Bloemhof town has no water as the waterworks are under water and there is no electricity. He further mentioned that it’s hard to travel due to the damaged roads.
According to the towns recent history about 150 people have been affected by the worst floods.
Meanwhile, in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, business owners, and residents have started counting the costs after devastating floods.
