Minister Lindiwe Sisulu says she will be consulting her legal team to deal with comments made by Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
Acting chief justice and Minister Lindiwe Sisulu are in a heated exchange of words regarding a controversial opinion piece written by Sisulu which was published on IOL.
The Minister penned down a letter titled, “Hi Mzansi, have we seen justice?” Sisulu questioned the moral standing of the country’s judges and compared unnamed judges with “house Negroes”. She further called for a complete overhaul of the judiciary.
In a media briefing, Zondo was outraged by Sisulu’s views that white monopoloy capital controls the judiciary in the country.
Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has described letter written by Minister Lindiwe Sisulu criticising the judiciary as an insult. Judge Zondo says the article penned a few days ago lacks facts and analysis.
“The insults are most regrettable as they come from a senior government and political leader,” he said.
Zondo encouraged judges at various levels to continue doing their job and to work according to their oath of office.
Less than hour after Zondo’s media briefing where he told journalists he hoped action would be taken against the minister, Sisulu took to social media to respond.
“I have noted the comments made by the Acting Chief Justice Zondo and they will be engaged with at an appropriate time in an appropriate platform.
The minister added that she was engaging her legal team.
