The war of words between Tourism Minister Lindiwe Sisulu and Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo is intensifying.
Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has slammed Tourism Minister, Lindiwe Sisulu for her controversial article in which she attacked the country’s Constitution and Judiciary.
Addressing a media briefing on Wednesday, Zondo says the article is an insult to all black judges.
In the letter published last week titled “Hi Mzansi, have we seen justice”, Sisulu criticized the lack of transformation and economic reconciliation in South Africa.
“What we have instead witnessed under the supreme constitution and the rule of law since 1994 has been co-option and invitations to political power brokers to the dinner table, whose job is to keep the masses quiet in their sufferance,” the letter read.
The government distanced itself from the letter by Sisulu, stating the letter is a misrepresentation of the constitution.
Acting Chief Justice responded to the letter by saying, while they accept criticism, it should be fair and based on facts.
“This is not criticism it is an insult to all judges who serve this country with determination to uphold the constitution… There are no facts from Ms Sisulu, no analysis of anything it’s just accusations and insults” said Zondo
Zondo further said he hopes action will be taken against the minister.
