The sexual offences case against a senior National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) prosecutor has been postponed at Lichtenburg Magistrates Court, North West.
The 45-year-old accused faces statutory rape and sexual exploitation amongst other charges.
North West NPA spokesperson Henry Mamothame says the newly appointed prosecutor requested the court for a further postponement after new evidence emerged.
“The newly appointed prosecutor from Welkom in the Free State province, to afford the investigating officer time to complete the compilation of the new evidence that has emerged,” says Mamothame.
“The accused is charged with statutory rape, sexual exploitation of children, sexual display or causing display of pornography, sexual grooming of children and sexual assault. It is alleged that the victim was 15 years of age in 2019 when these offences were committed.”
According to Mamothame says the accused will remain suspended from duty and his bail of R10 000 is extended until his next court appearance on the 29 September 2021.
