The Jacob Zuma Foundation says people will continue to take to the streets in a show of support for former president Jacob Zuma, who they want to be released from jail.

KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng have seen the highest concentration of violent protests.

The foundation’s spokesperson, Mzwanele Manyi said protestors are reacting to the sentencing of the former president.

According to Mangi South Africans have been provoked and they are responding.

“It is our view that to detain a person without trial is a provocation. So we call upon the authorities to remove the provocation so that calm can be automatically restored,” added Mangi

The Constitutional Court will on Monday will hear former president Jacob Zuma’s bid to have his 15-month imprisonment sentence rescinded.

Zuma’s legal team will present his case, which will be opposed by lawyers representing the State Capture Commission and the Helen Suzman Foundation.
