Bill Cosby (83), was freed from prison and returned home on Wednesday.
This is after Pennsylvania’s highest court overturned his sexual assault conviction, stating that he never should have faced charges after striking a non-prosecution deal with a previous district attorney more than 15 years ago.
His reputation was shattered after dozens of women accused him of multiple sexual assaults over nearly five decades.
The 83 year old Cosby was found guilty of drugging and molesting Andrea Constand, an employee at his alma mater Temple University, in his home in 2004. Constand’s allegations were the only ones against Cosby that were not too old to allow for criminal charges.
Cosby had served more than two years of a three- to 10 -year sentence following his 2018 conviction.
The actor and comedian arrived at his home in Elkins Park, a Philadelphia suburb.
Cosby’s spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt, said his conviction being overturned is a victory for the world and all Americans who have been treated unfairly by the judicial system.
Constand and her attorney’s expressed disappointment from the ruling saying they were concerned it could dissuade other victims from seeking justice.
