The uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) says the former president’s rights have been violated.
The MKMVA has described the sanction as unjust and claims the law is being abused for political and factional purposes.
MK veterans are camping outside the home of former President Jacob Zuma in Nkandla in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Zuma has been sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for contempt after he defied a court order to appear before the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.
The MKMVA’s Mfanafuthi Gumede says Zuma, as a senior citizen should not be going through all this.
“We hold the view that being stationed here in Nkandla we are at the right place to protect the President while the land struggle is continuing, “said Gumede
According to Gumede Zuma’s persecution is because he was advocating for the land issue.
“We are observing that what others are doing to former president Zuma shows they want to stop the land issue from being openly discussed,” added Gumede.
Meanwhile the former President Jacob Zuma’s daughter Duduzile indicated that her father is ready and willing to go to jail.
