Amakhosi re-unite with one of the most successful coaches in their history.

The Naturena based-outfit opted to cut-ties with former Bidvest Wits Head Coach Gavin Hunt after a disappointing 2020/2021 season in the DSTV Premier League that saw one of the most successful teams in South Africa’s top-flight football fighting for a top-8 finish.

However, Hunt managed to lead the 2013/2014 ABSA Premiership Champions to their first ever CAF Champions League semi-final as they will go head-to-head with Wydad Casablanca on June 26, 2021 in their first-leg encounter.

Amakhosi have re-appointed Stuart Baxter on a 2-year contract after back-to-back defeats under the mentorship of Gavin Hunt. With no doubt, Baxter is one of the most successful coaches in the history of the Glamour Boys and he surely did create exciting memories at Naturena during 2012 and 2015.

The English-based coach won several trophies at Naturena, including two league titles in 2012/2013 and 2014/2015, the Nedbank Cup in 2012/2013 and MTN 8 during the 2014/2015 season.

Kaizer Chiefs Chairman Kaizer Motaung praised the re-appointment of Baxter and he believes it was the right thing to do concerning their poor run of form in the 2020/2021 season.

“We believe we are on track with the changes we have made so far in the coaching and technical department after a challenging season domestically,” says Chairman Kaizer Motaung referring to the appointment of Baxter and Molefi Ntseki as Head of Technical and Youth Development Academy.

Baxter is expected to commence his duties at Naturena as soon as the paperwork has been finalised and he will work with Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard as his assists with support from former Bafana Bafana Head Coach Molefi Ntseki who was released from his duties after failing to qualify for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.
