The Polokwane High court in Limpopo has handed down four life sentences to a father who killed his four young children.
Former attorney Lucas Phasha, has been on trial for the brutal murder of his four children since 2020.
According to reports, at the time of the murders, Phasha was out on parole following a previous murder conviction.
Their bodies were found in the bushes about 5 kilometres from their home Ga-Phasha village, in Sekhukhune, in February last year.
The children died after five-inch nails were knocked into their heads.
The children were between the ages of (3 and 9), Katlego, 9, Joyce, 7, Tshepo, 5, and Adel, 3.
Limpopo MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale said she welcomes the sentence by the High court.
“We feel much relieved honestly speaking especially because this comes at the time when we are commemorating International child protection week which is sending a message to the public out there that we do have a responsibility all of us to protect the children and this is making us feel good because at least justice has been served so we are happy as the department,” said Rakgoale.
