Premier of the Free State Sisi Ntombela has called an urgent meeting with the leadership of the Mangaung shutdown in Bloemfoentein.

Residents of Manguang are protesting over service delivery and have vowed to continue with the protest.

The community is calling for the disbandment of the council and the removal of the City Manager due to claims of maladministration.

The streets are blocked with stones and rubble on, and motorists are forced to use alternative routes.

Mangaung Metro spokesperson Qondile Khedama says the meeting is to find solutions for the issues brought forward by the community.

“The intention is to really come with a solution to assist the city to get back to normal. We are working on the solution so the situation is back to normal in Mangaung,” said Khedama.
