Mangaung residents have vowed to continue with the ongoing shutdown in Bloemfontein.
Motlatsi Mokgatla, the group’s spokesperson, says they have tried to speak to the Mangaung Metro about poor service delivery but nothing was done.
“Talks on Poor service delivery and lack of jobs for the residents of Bloemfontein failed to yield positive results, hence the decision to protest” said Mokgatla.
According to Mokgatla the Mangaung Metro council should be disbanded and the city manager must step down.
“we had agreed that we are going to continue with the shutdown until at least the municipality can come to us and say look this is where we agree in terms of demands, so that there can be something we take back to the community” added Mokgatla.
On Monday a teenage boy was shot and killed allegedly by a foreign national during the protest.
