ANC secretary General Ace Magashule has defied the decision by the African National Congress (ANC) to suspend him as secretary-general.
Magashule, who received a letter of suspension, hit back by saying he has launched an appeal against the decision.
He also wrote a letter suspending ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa due to his alleged involvement in corruption.
The spokesperson of ANC, Pule Mabe’s confirmed that they had received the letter from Magashule.
“The NEC will express itself on those matters written by the Secretary General and as it emerges this weekend, we will be able to come with a decision,” said Mabe.
Mabe also added that ANC members who stand for unity will accept the suspensions.
“There will always be difficult moments in the ANC, the expectation is that when faced with such moment we must hold on to our unity and remind ourselves of the commitment we made when we went to the ANC conferences that the unity of the ANC is sacrosanct and that if renewal requires that all of its cadres who are self-respecting must lead from the front and uphold to the discipline of the ANC,” explained Mabe.
