The Gauteng department said more than 800 patients from Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital that were transferred to other health facilities will back in the facility by the beginning of May.
The provincial government released a statement that stated that all patients will be transferred during the weekend of 1-2 May while hospital services are expected to resume from 26 April.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize had said that Personal protective equipment (PPE) worth more than R40 million was destroyed by the fire.
According to reports fire ripped through the hospital in Johannesburg and spread to a parking lot, damaging the building’s structure.
A preliminary report revealed that the blaze affected Block 3 and 4 of the hospital, therefore the two blocks shall remain closed until a detailed structural assessment is completed according to officials.
