The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) National Youth Task Team (NYTT) is picketing outside the US Embassy in Pretoria to seek justice for 29 year old former rugby star Lindani Myeni.
The former rugby player had moved to Honolulu in Hawaii with his family in January.
Myeni who is from KwaZulu-Natal was shot dead by police in Hawaii earlier this month after an alleged altercation.
The ANC NYTT spokesperson Sizophila Mkhize said the US government must be transparent about what happened on the day of his killing.
“we want transparency and we feel like the government is hiding something. They are showing us one side and not what really happened” said Mkhize.
“The footage that has been released is not a complete footage and we have been in communication with the family and part of the things that they are complaining about is that his phone has not been returned even today, so we feel like there is a shady thing going on.” added Mkhize.
Meanwhile the family of Lindani Myeni has filed for a wrongful death lawsuit.
