Former president Jacob Zuma’s legal team has dropped him a month before his corruption trial starts.
Mabuza Attorneys have filed their intention to withdraw as his legal representatives with the Kwazulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg.
Former president’s defense lawyers have told the high court they will no longer be representing Zuma in his corruption trial.
Some political analysts have stated that the change could have a negative impact on the president’s corruption trial that is set to start in May.
The Supreme Court of Appeals also found that state funding for his lawyers in the corruption case is unlawful.
The former president has been instructed to return state funds used to pay his legal fees for this corruption case.
Zuma is due to go on trial for arms deal related corruption.
