The LGBTQI+ community wants President Cyril Ramaphosa to speak out against the brutal killing of gay people.
Several groups of LGBTQI+ communities gathered at the Constitutional Hill to brief the media with regards to the killing of gay people in South Africa.
This is after six LGBTQI+ members were murdered since the start of 2021.
Vigiana Magwaza, the group’s spokesperson said that president Ramaphosa is very silent on the matter.
“LGBTQI+ South African have been brutalized, raped and killed across our nation” added Magwaza.
Mgwaza said as LGBTQI+ members they not only fear for their lives but they continue to face discrimination in a democratic South Africa.
“If the president fails to address the nation on this matter, we will organize a march to the Union Buildings” she said.
