Four police officers have been arrested in Johannesburg for alleged murder and cable theft.
This follows a report that the police men had responded to a call about cable theft last month, and they killed two suspects on the scene.
Ndileka Cola the spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) said the police officers never reported the incident.
“It is alleged that when the police left the crime scene, they went to a scrapyard and sold the copper cable. They left the two deceased males at the scene and did not report the shooting incident to Ipid as required by law,” Said Cola.
The suspects will appear in the Oberholzer Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
