Hawks reported that twelve people, including three South African Social Security Agency ; Sassa, officials, have been arrested for the alleged fraud and corruption on disability grants in Limpopo.
The suspects include three Nkowankowa in Limpopo Sassa officials, one intermediary and eight non qualifying Sassa beneficiaries.
Captain Matimba Maluleke, Limpopo Hawks spokesperson said the officials from Sassa allegedly recruited an intermediary and registered people who don’t qualify to receive grants for disability grants.
Hawks said according to their investigations over 21 people were recruited and paid R 3 500 gratification each.
“They are expected to appear in the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges relating to fraud and corruption,” said Maluleke.
Hawks also stated that they are expecting to make more arrests.
