In the wee hours of Friday morning, a collision between a putco bus and a taxi left 12 people severely injured along Main Reef and New Canada road, near Mooifontein in Johannesburg.

The Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (JEMS) were called out to the scene, and upon arrival, it was discovered that 12 commuters were injured.

According to Robert Mulaudzi, JEMS spokesperson, the injured patients were stabilized and transported to different healthcare facilities – depending on the severity of their injuries, to receive medical attention.

The impact of the accident also destroyed a nearby house as the bus went through the well, leaving it destroyed.

The cause of the accident is being investigated, but according to witnesses, the taxi missed a stop and the bus ran into it.
