The City of Johannesburg has been experiencing water shortages whereby some residents have been without water for over a week.
In Alexandra, North of Johannesburg, has been without water for over a week. According to Joyce Molefe, they’ve lost hope that they’ll get water again because they’ve been suffering with no help from the local councilors and City of Joburg.
“We have reached out to every municipality to our avail to ask for help as we are not coping without water, but nobody seems to care about us because we’re from a township.” Says Joyce Molefe.
Another resident, Thabo Maake, says they’re sick and tired of empty promises from City or joburg. “We have young children who need water. Where must we get water if they [City of Joburg] close off water for over week? It’s unacceptable and no body should live like this!!!”, scolds Mr Maake.
According to the Joburg Water Twitter account, this is what they had to say about this water crisis:

Please note that there are delays on site and thus restoration time has been moved to 6pm. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. ^NN
Water was supposed to be resorted yesterday at 13:00, and it wasn’t. They then claimed it would be restored at 18:00, and still, it has not been restored.
The residents of Alexandra, Modderfontein and surrounding areas have no idea when water will be restored, and it seems like the City of Johannesburg doesn’t know too.
