The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has partnered with Telkom to launch a new online streaming service called TelkomOne.
This five year partnership is a digital carriage agreement whereby the SABC will include TV programmes and radio platforms on a single online platform.
According to Telkom CEO, Sipho Maseko, TelkomONE will stream SABC television channels 1 and 2, sport channels as well as educational channels. 19 SABC radio stations will also be available on the online platform.
The agreement of the partnership is that the SABC will provide content on a non-exclusive basis and in exchange, the SABC will receive a carriage license fee and shares in the advertising revenue generated on the TelkomONE platform.
Customers can register a profile for free to access and browse the limited content catalogue. Users can pay via a voucher, airtime, credit card or add bill for contract customers.
