Deputy President David Mabuza says all South Africans should pay for water and electricity because these services are not free.
According to Mabuza, non-payment of basic services like water and electricity prevents local municipalities from reviving the relevant infrastructures needed to run municipalities effectively.
In a virtual QnA session, Mabuza asked National Council of Provinces to stop perpetuating divisiveness on issues of corruption and race.
“It is a very unfortunate perception that corruption seems to be synonymous with blacks. It is a very heavy, loaded statement which can cause statements because they are very divisive,” said Mabuza.
