ACCOUNTABILITY AT THE HEART OF TRUST

Derek Chauvin, the police officer who killed George Floyd, has now been charged with second-degree murder.

The three other officers present will also be charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

Chauvin is not only amassed by a much deserved murder charge but he is also facing divorce by his wife Kellie Chauvin, who publicly expressed her disappointment and disgust in the actions of her husband. A lawyer has issued a statement from the wife of the now-arrested and charged former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, and she said she has filed for divorce.

Attorney General Keith Ellison’s office on Wednesday upgraded charges against the former Minneapolis police officer who knelt on George Floyd’s neck and charged the other three officers at the scene with aiding and abetting murder.

“To the Floyd family, to our beloved community, and everyone that is watching, I say: George Floyd mattered. He was loved. His life was important. His life had value. We will seek justice for him and for you and we will find it,” Ellison said

However, he said, he doesn’t believe that “one successful prosecution can rectify the hurt and loss that so many people feel. The solution to that pain will be in the slow and difficult work of constructing justice and fairness in our society.”

Amidst the spark of protest, reports by news outlets CNN, say that the autopsy of George Floyd also revealed that he had tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus; Covid-19.

Many have gathered globally in a protest against the gruesome murder of George Floyd. Looting and Mass protests have been the order of the day in many cities across the United States of America, with even celebrities standing in solidarity with the manner in which a fellow black brother lost his life at the hands of a police officer, an issue that has been known to be recurring for year in America.

“Star Wars” actor John Boyega rallied crowds at a large London protest against George Floyd’s death on Wednesday, telling demonstrators that “now is the time” to demand racial equality.
