A 6 year old girl who was reported missing on Sunday, has been found dead in a sugarcane field in Rietvlei inland of Shakaskraal, by police officers. Alexia’s body was found yesterday afternoon after she was snatched from the vehicle she was traveling in on Sunday.
A 42 year old woman, who has been identified as the mother of the missing child has been apprehended and has appeared in court today. She has been charged with perjury, defeating the ends of justice, murder, and kidnapping.
The woman charged with the murder, had initially reported her kidnapping on Sunday.
The mother claimed she had slowed down at a speed bump when the child was snatched from the car.
SAPS K9 Search and Rescue embarked on a relentless search for the child since she was reported missing, while many in the child’s community prayed for her safe return.
She has appeared at the Umhlali Magistrate’s Court, facing charges of perjury, defeating the ends of justice, kidnapping and murder.
She is expected to appear back in court on the 10th of June 2020.
