The Department of Education has officially postponed the Amended Senior Certificate and National Senior Certificate Examinations that had to commence around May/June.
These rewrite exams are usually written by more than 350 000 part-time students who want to improve their marks, or simply because they didn’t meet the pass requirements in the 2019 final exams.
Basic Education Department Director General, Mathanzima Merlin, wrote a letter to all heads of Provincial Education Departments to confirm the postponement to these exams, and at a meeting held on the 10th of April 2020, it was a unanimous decision that the May/June rewrite exams should be merged with the November 2020 examination.
“The details regarding the merged June and November examination will be communicated to you in due course. Candidates will be informed regarding registration, examination centers and time-tables,” Mweli Said
Irrespective of the inconvenience caused by the exam postponement, the Department of Education encourages all candidates to continue preparing for the exams because all learning and revision resources have been made available to the department’s website.
