Police minister, Bheki Cele addressed the media regarding the possibilities of the lockdown extension, and he confirmed that the government isn’t ruling out the extension to the lockdown as their priority is to ensure that people are safe.
The minister also reminds South African citizens that the government started out with restrictions, which then led to the lockdown – so nothing is guaranteed at this moment and an extension is possible.
The minister stressed that the next few days are very critical as they will determine which direction the government takes, regarding the lockdown.
With the number of confirmed cases at 1686 and deaths at 12, South Africa is looking at the possibility of an extension as the measures to flatten the curve may be taken up a notch.
