Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize released the current Coronavirus statistics as of Monday, 6th of April 2020 at 21:21.
There has been an increase of 31 new positive cases from the previously reported cases. This increase has brought the total number of new cases to 1686.
Gauteng still holds the highest number of cases at 713, followed by Western Cape with 462 and KwaZulu-Natal with 257 positive cases. The other 6 provinces have reported less than 100 cases each, with Northern Cape reporting only 8 cases. The total number of tests conducted to date is 58 098.

The Department of Health is sad to report yet another death due to the Coronavirus. The deceased patient was a 57-years-old male from the Western Cape who was admitted to hospital on the 5th of April 2020.
The department confirms that he had underlying conditions which included diabetes and ischaemic heart disorder. This brings the number of confirmed Covid-19 deaths to 12, on the 12th day of the lockdown.
The department passes their condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased, and continues to extend its gratitude and appreciation to the health workers that treated the deceased patient.
