Article by Khanyi Moshia
As wwe get into the third day of the South African lockdown, many people might find themselves frustrated and bored as their normal routines have been put on a halt for the next few weeks. If you’re one of the people who have no idea how to stay busy during the lockdown, here are a few ideas:
Read a book
Many people hardly have time to go through their reading lists, because well, life happens! This is the perfect time to read all the books you’ve been putting off for a while.
Try out a new recipe
As the President addressed the nation on the 23rd of March 2020, he made it clear that restaurants weren’t essential services – meaning that they had to also close down during the lockdown. If you’re one of those people who depended on take-outs for their daily meals, then you should definitely use this time to learn new recipes.
Thoroughly clean your space
The government has been emphasizing the importance of practicing personal hygiene during the pandemic, like washing your hands with soap and water, covering your mouth while scouting, using hand sanitizers after touching surfaces and avoid touching your face – to reduce the risk of getting infected with the Coronavirus.
While you’re confined in your personal space, with ample time on your hands, it is a good idea to thoroughly clean and disinfect your space.
Meditate
The lockdown has left a lot of people anxious and nervous about the virus the government is dealing with! You can ease your stress and anxiety amidst the crisis by learning how to meditate.
Learn a new skill
The world is constantly changing and evolving, and that includes the workplace. It’s important to use this time wisely to up-skill and equip yourself with the relevant knowledge before you head back to work. So, you can learn a new skill by signing up for affordable online courses from learning institutions like Udemy, for example.
The lockdown is quite serious in the attempt of combating the spread of the Coronavirus, so it’s quite important not to treat it as a holiday, but as a time to improve your well-being while you’re at home.
