Millions of South Africans and International guests witnessed and celebrated the inauguration of 4th democratically elected President Cyril Ramaphosa. A fruitful event filled with the presence of honorable guests, members of parliament and filled with the spirit of South Africa’s hope and future, for a new hope was to be sworn in to the presidential seat of the Republic of Southern Africa on May 25 2019.
We have read of the glitz and glam of the red carpet where many attendees were interviewed and the excitement of the people was shared across many media platforms, but very little were we afforded the opportunity to visit the conceptualization and execution that it took to pull through the entire presidential inauguration. We are all aware that a different venue was used for this years Inauguration but very seldom do we ask ourselves which team is behind the success of all these prestige events, therefore we were able to get our hands on an exclusive as to how the set up and infrastructure of the inauguration was pulled off this year.
We spoke to Mr.Batho Mokhothu who afforded us the exclusive content of the road leading to the inauguration. He speaks to us about the work put into setting up the infrastructure for the day and how it led to the success of the entire event.
After leading the physical infrastructure for the presidential inauguration 2019 , Mr Batho Mokhothu PrEng is pleased to have delivered a high quality infrastructure for the presidential inauguration.
It took months of planning to create the first blue print of an inauguration outside of the traditional union buildings. The 2019 presidential inauguration was held at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on the 25 May 2019 and Africa Day. The splendid occasion was well attended by the public (masses), VIPs and VVIPs including heads of states such as Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa , Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi , Uganda ‘s President Yoweri Museveni amongst others.
Mr Mokhothu in his capacity as Deputy Director General for Construction Management led the team that planned, designed and constructed various infrastructure structures including the stage and various Marques.
With over 12 years of experience as a Civil Engineer with diverse skills in planning, portfolio management, construction management, financial analysis, construction management, project execution and Structural Engineering amongst others ; the complex task at hand was executed with precision.
This is by far the most prestigious project in South Africa. It is an absolute honor to have worked with such a diligent and committed team , and thank you for the opportunity to showcase skills and talent in infrastructure development.
We look forward to serving in the 6th administration of the Republic of South Africa.
Well done ntate Mokhothu
